The Semester Concludes

So this is the culmination of all of the learning and skills I have acquired this fall.

Extracurricular

Well, it has been a very long time since last I updated. I wish I had some
awesome digital stuff to show, but not this time. Instead, I thought I would throw up some of the little sketches and doodles I've done not for class just for funsies. I'd like to say that I will start posting more regularly, but I probably won't. But maybe. But most likely not. But maybe... It'll be a surprise.

Abstracts

So I'm just looking for an excuse not to do homework for a little while. These are some abstract landscapes for class. We started with marker patterns then looked into the marks to try to see landscapes. Sorta like looking at clouds. They still need a lot of work, but I feel better about theses then my last photoshop attempts. I like landscapes so that helps, but I am also starting to like photoshop too. Yay!

Digital

So I've been forced into the digital arena. Thus far, it has been an uphill battle; however, I have confidence that I will rally and eventually master this strange beast. Hopefully. A first attempt at photoshop and a few things from 3D. More to come. Oh, and a thrown together model sheet. Whoo...

Sketch sketch sketch

Just a few sketches. I'm just going to keep doing interiors until I finally get it right. This one is from the new Zoka in Kirkland. It's pretty swanky.

Marker Sketches

School! Yay school! But no art from school :( I haven't gotten around to scanning anything at school and most of it is too large for my sad little scanner. But never fear, it will happen. Just a few 5 mins sketches of the notorious Chuck Wood and another interior at Chocolati. I would like to really focus getting perspective down. I just can't seem to integrate it into my drawing at all. Next time Gadget, next time.

A few things

School is about to begin so either I will update a lot more often or a lot less, depending on how lazy I get in terms of scanning. I've given the brush pen another go. I'd like to get good at it someday. Just a quick attempt at the interior at Chocolati.

Cafe Vita and Bauhaus

Lots of coffee lately... I would feel weird just sitting down in a cafe without ordering anything, but it might come to that. I'll just conspicuously slip some cash into the tip jar and the baristas will get where I'm coming from. Just a few sketches from Vita and Bauhaus. Short story today. Sorry. Stay tuned.

Trains

So I had intended to do a ridiculous amount of drawing on the train ride to down to Emeryville, however, it was not meant to be. Who would have thought that drawing on a train would be such a novelty? It's like walking around with a new puppy, everyone wants to stop you and give you their two cents about how awesome that is. And then there were the dudes that must have been super turned on by the delicate strokes of a pencil on paper because it seems like my coach ticket included a speed dating package that I did not sign up for. NOTE: Guys that hit on girls on trains are super weird. So this was all I managed to do. San Francisco was amazing, as always, and I wish I could have stayed longer. I would love to do get a chance to do some art next time I visit.

It's been awhile

Nothing too spectacular to report, just a few sketches. I realized it had been awhile since I drew people. It shows. I'll just add it to the list of things I have to work on. I suppose classes will start and then I will have no choice but to get good. It all works out in the end.

Which one is different from the rest?

Very small update today. I've been busy and not drawing as much as I should. *SIGH* I thought I'd put something up as a sign of life and a reminder that I still care. On the roof of our shack at work a bunch of crows were gathered round and this huge and ugly seagull plopped right down in the middle of them. I think he wanted to be part of the cool kids crowd. Needed to work on his disguise, but really, there are some things you just can't hide.

Another one bites the dust

These posts are becoming rarer, smaller, and lesser. Gotta always leave them wanting more, right? But I have an excuse for the small update today. Not a very good one, but an excuse nevertheless. I was trying to budget the last few pages of my sketchbook so that I would be able to start a new one on my birthday. Had to sort of meander around the last few pages for a bit, but I was successful. Mission completed. Most of these are unfinished. Most of them will never be finished. So it goes. Enjoy!

Pandemonium

Crazy crazy week. Words cannot even begin to describe the chaotic and extreme highs and lows of this week. Mostly it was just complete mayhem. All this is my way of saying that not a lot of drawing was done. Oops. So I thought I'd bring in some guest art! Whooo! Courtesy of my fabulous coworker Gen. He likes to deal with the important issues. Pretty content heavy stuff. Please, take a moment to collect yourself. The rest is just random stuff of mine. I'll try to do better in the coming weeks.

Filler

So I haven't been very diligent in my updating for awhile. Oops. Maybe I am losing motivation or maybe worldly distractions are getting better, who can really tell? But as I have no real following and because this is basically just a place for me to step back and chat amongst myself, I figure I'll be forgiven. However, I would hate to presume to speak for all my nonreaders, and I certainly don't want them to feel unloved. So for all you people who aren't reading this, this one's for you. I haven't really done much drawing lately and most of it is just too embarrassing to be digitally immortalized. So while these lackluster images reek of vacuous mediocrity, just remember, it could be worse. These are a few sketch from Bauhaus and Zoka. The last is one I did for a friend of mine who's been having a rough time.

People, Places, and COLOR!

So I've gone a little color happy... as evident by the surreal, abstract, might-be-a-landscape ink things I'm calling color doodles. They may be something beneath doodles. They might actually be more appropriately termed rainbow vomit, but oh well. I did a for real color sketch of the bridge by school in pastel. I think my mad pastel skillz are improving, but then again, they really only could go up. Yeah progress! In other news I finally made a life drawing session! Whoo! It was actually sort of depressing because I forgot how to draw. But I thought I would include a few illustration from that forlorn little tale. I tried to use pastel, but 20 mins. is not nearly enough time to get that up and running. At least for me. The rest of the stuff is cafe sketching. I've been really off with people lately. If only people were more like trees...
