Creatures and things

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I've been meaning to update for about a month now, but it's been pretty busy. I've been doing a lot of sketching and doodling lately just to stay sane. These are some of the ones I have on hand. I've been looking at some of those daily drawing sites to direct some of my doodling. The topics I've draw for are Crying Creature and Beneath. It's a good time. Other than that, just stuff I've seen and stuff that floats around in my brain. Enjoy!

This is a rough concept for another character I thought of doing. The colors looks terrible here, but it gets the point across. He also has a supply bag I didn't finish. I'll probably try again soon. There are a number of things I would like to change so suggestions are welcome.

Hello Nurse!

I wanted to do a little photoshop painting of my nurse character. I'm not even sure if I'm going to use her, but I thought it would be fun. It's still pretty rough in places, (and sans light source) but it gets the general idea across. I didn't get into the blood and dirt and stuff. I'll add all that if I do another pass.

More character stuff. Not sure about the style yet. These feel more like 2D animation characters, but maybe that's just me.

Characters characters characters

I've been trying to come up with some sort of idea for my junior project, but I've got nothing. In the meantime, I've just been trying to come up with whatever sort of concept I can and just draw until it turns into something. Or doesn't. So here are a bunch of characters I've been messing around with.

Drawings!

Some doodles and some cafe sketches. The top and the bottom one were for the kids I'm teaching for our school's summer workshops. I'm still working on my digital sketching (obviously). I was feeling bold, so I tried color, but he was only there for like 20 mins. Oh well.

In the meantime...

So I have lots of images to scan and upload, but the lack of scanner is a serious impediment to that process. For now, some messing around in photoshop. The top one was the beginning of a cafe sketch that was tragically cut short by a phone call. I was trying to start with a silhouette and work up the value. It didn't work out so well, but I like the process. The bottom was a character that I was developing, but ended up scrapping for now.

For the kids

I've been teaching the DigPen summer workshops, so I've been around a lot of kids. Consequently, I've been drawing a lot of kids. A little creepy maybe, but that's just sort of the way art goes. I put a villain in there too, just to keep them all on their toes.

Killing time

I've just been sitting around at a Borders, entertaining myself as I wait for traffic to die down. I figured I put something up here since it's been awhile. Quick sketch of a fellow idler. I'm trying to do some digital cafe sketching.

So no photoshop this time, but I was getting really backlogged on uploading other drawings. Next time I will do an all photoshop post. Maybe. Just a bunch of sketches from things and such.
