Earth! Fire! Wind! Water!.... Heart? Psh! Heart...

It's been a slow but relatively productive week. It was quite cold and windy for the most part and I feel a little abused by mother nature. However, there is a chance that the constant pushing and shoving by invisible substances indirectly propelled my artistic endeavors forward and lead to my ultimate productivity, so I can't really complain too much. It's nice to be doing some work in color and I'm starting to enjoy pastels. They're quick and clunky and I have more of an excuse when things go horribly awry. I would love to try using them on a larger scale than I am right now. A house burnt down across the pond from us on Mercer Island so I thought I would do a commemorative doodle on its behalf. I am also playing a little with artist inks. Not really sure what to do with them yet, but I have confidence that once we are better acquainted, they will reveal their innermost aspirations to me. Can't rush this sort of thing.

The Great Return!

In a surprising plot twist, I was able to acquire my sketchbooks much sooner than expected. Most of this stuff is actually pretty old, but I have observed a shocking lack of color throughout this blog and figured I should address that. I haven't really used pastels before, but I figure if I start now, in 20 years or so I might be somewhere approaching the skills of Peter Moehrle, my new favorite artist. Ambitious I know, but everyone needs that something to get them out of bed in the morning. Also, special bonus, a few sketches from the one and only life drawing session I have made all summer! I tried a brush pen. Try to contain your excitement.

Newcastle be bumpin'

I had hoped to have a larger update as recompense for the long silence on the digital front, but alas, my sketchbooks seem to have wandered to some obscure part of Seattle with no hopes of returning anytime soon. But fear not! Back up art is always at hand. These are some sketches I did recently at work. Nothing terribly crafty or mischievous, but you know, I guard lives, so I can't afford to get distracted for too long. Or people die. True story.

Getting Lazy

Been doodling a lot lately, not much serious drawing. Haven't had too much time lately, but I'm going to try to put some time aside this weekend to draw a bit. One of these days I might even make to a life drawing session.

and that's when...

Just some sketches and stuff I've been doodling. I need some sort of project to channel my efforts rather than just spasming out whatever. I'll work on that.

Blah

I still draw sometimes. I promise.
